Tralee
Tralee is located in the south west if Ireland. With a population of around 22 000 it is a big town with lots to see and do. There are many shops, restaurants and attractions to visit when in Tralee.
Tralee also has a beautiful park with stunning gardens, it is a beautiful place to visit and spend several hours in the tranquil and scenic surroundings. Tralee is also steeped with history such as Scotia's Grave which is located just outside Tralee.
The Blennerville windmill is also located just outside Tralee, the largest windmill functioning and working in Ireland. The Aqua Dome is also has a lot of entertainment for all the family, it has mini golf and a large indoor swimming pool.
Tralee also has a wonderful Dog Racing track, it is a great night out and if you have never been, it is amazing to see the speeds that these dogs achieve. It is stunning and the excitement and atmosphere will keep you there for quite a while.
The Rose of Tralee Festival is held annually in August. The first festival was held in 1959, and the title went to Dublin. The festival provides a lot of entertainment with fireworks displays and much more.
When visiting the Kerry County Museum, you can catch a glimpse of what life was like in medieval Tralee, there are stunning displays which are very life like and truly stunning pieces of work. It is a lovely place steeped with history that must be visited to hear about how Tralee came to be.
The Tralee to Dingle Railway trips take place from the Aqua Dome on the restored part of the old Tralee to Dingle Railway. An ancient Hunslet steam train pulls the carriages along a very scenic route a few miles out towards Blennervile.
At Blennerville, you can visit the yard where the Jeannie Johnston ship replica was completed. The original ship was built in Quebec and is now in Dublin. The Jeannie Johnston was a triple masted sailing ship that carried many emigrants to America. In the famine years it brought vital food supplies to the town.
At the Siamsa Tire folk theater you can experience the sights and sounds of traditional music and dancing. Plays are also performed and many are in Irish. It is a fabulous experience to watch one of these plays.
