Tralee is a charming town located in Co.Kerry in the south west of Ireland. The Irish name for Tralee is Tra Li which roughly translates to mean 'strand of Lee'. Tralee is the largest town in Kerry and is situated to the north of the Dingle Peninsula.
There is much to see and do when visiting Tralee. At the Siamsa Tire Folk Theatre, there is traditional music and plays are performed in Irish. The Blennerville Windmill is also a wonderful place to visit, the Windmill is the largest windmill still functioning in Ireland, it is located around 2 miles from Tralee town.
The Jeannie Johnston Sailing Ship is also found in Tralee. This ship was the original Irish emigrant sailing ship. It made many journeys and was also used to bring much needed food to Tralee in the famine years. The ship boasted never having lost a passenger or crew member. This triple masted ship is a stunning piece of work and should be seen as part of your visit to Tralee.
Scenery is also stunning in this area, there are many walking trials that lead in and around the many mountains surrounding the town. The town is full of wonderful restaurants with mouth watering food.
